About

Mississippi Dental Society is the Mississippi Chapter of the National Dental Association.   Mississippi Dental Society was incorporated by the State of Mississippi April 1, 1920 and is looking forward to celebrating 100 years of existence in the year 2020. We currently represent approximately 150 members throughout a vast array of dental disciplines and practice settings.

Mississippi Dental Society has a long history of serving our communities through community outreach and dental health education. We continually strive to increase the dental knowledge of our members through innovative continuing education and advanced unconventional techniques and methods so we can continue to provide excellent oral health care to the citizens of Mississippi and surrounding states.

As part of our ongoing mission to enhance and protect the future of our profession we have established a mentorship component to our Society, MDSS (Making Dental Students Successful). MDSS focuses on recruitment of high school and college students into the dental profession.  Recent statistics have shown a steady decline in students entering the dental profession.

Furthermore, less than thirty percent of applicants applying to dental schools are males and less than five percent of the males are from the minority population.  It is our goal to start a recruiting campaign to introduce and promote the dental profession at all Mississippi Universities, Colleges and Allied Health Institutions.
